Developing leaders under operational pressure
Helping operational leaders move from constant reaction to intentional leadership.

What we achieved
Stronger operational leadership
Leadership confidence, accountability, communication and decision-making improved across the team.
Reduced firefighting
Stronger problem-solving skills, increased accountability and clearer escalation across teams.
More sustainable performance
Stronger operational alignment and leadership enabled better collaboration and record sales performance.

Where the work began
Leadership and teams were operating in a high-pressure manufacturing environment, balancing quality, throughput, customer expectations and day-to-day operational demands. Operational success depended heavily on a small number of experienced individuals who carried significant responsibility and were relied upon to solve problems, maintain performance and support others.
What wasn’t working
While this approach had helped the organisation achieve results, it was becoming increasingly difficult to sustain. Too much knowledge, decision-making and problem-solving sat with a small number of people.
- 01
Reliance on key individuals
Operational performance depended heavily on a small number of experienced people, creating pressure, limiting resilience and making it difficult to spread knowledge and ownership.
- 02
Constant problem-solving
Day-to-day demands and firefighting left little time for reflection, coaching or developing others, reinforcing a cycle where leaders remained the primary source of solutions.
- 03
Building leadership capability
Team leaders needed greater confidence, accountability and decision-making capability so responsibility could be shared more effectively.
What we changed
We delivered operational leadership coaching grounded in the realities of the manufacturing environment rather than classroom theory.
Sharon’s support and insight gave us a clear understanding of our team dynamics and highlighted blind spots we would otherwise have missed. She engaged me to work with people in the team, so I need it to be slightly different.

“You picked me up from one place and put me in a place where I knew what I had to do.”
Final reflection
Operational excellence is not only built through systems and processes. It is built through leaders who can think clearly under pressure, develop others and create accountability without blame.
Let’s have a conversation
If the challenges you’re facing feel difficult to name or untangle, a conversation can often help make sense of them.
